Under construction - work in progress

Starting from TYPO3 4.5 LTS code

We feel TYPO3 4.5 LTS has a lot of parts to be enhanced, and still a lot of new features to be added to the existing infrastructure in order to further improve the enterprise mission of this CMS.

So, given the fact TYPO3 foundation declared there will be no functionality enhancements on TYPO3 4.5 LTS, we have decided to work on it by ourselves, and then later to start a new CMS, derived from that code: Ease3 was born.

Why not TYPO3 6.x and following?

That would be the most reasonable way to go, if we could share the same path and have the same goals, but that was not the case.

We have the feeling 4.5 LTS is a stable framework, which should be integrated with several practical tools and functionalities in order to improve its Enterprise definition.

For simple example, a better KickStarter (and some core changes) would help a lot development of new extensions, some login and logout areas should be deeply improved, MySQL handling should be improved, some fundamental extensions should have been integrated in core.

And, while we see no plans to improve these functional areas, there have been a lot of changes, in recent frameworks, we totally disagree with.

So, Ease3 starts from TYPO3 4.5 LTS

This is the most obvious choise.

LTS means Long Term Support of security fixes, and 4.5 seems to be less contaminated by extbase than 4.6 or 4.7 (less contaminated, but unfortunately still have extbase inside for some functions).

Now the security support is ended, and with the help of anyone willing to contribute, we'd like to continue development and security support.

Same train, different destination

An immense  thank you to the TYPO3 community, the TYPO3 core team, and anyone which helped the TYPO3 train to arrive to 4.5 LTS.

Now, we are willing to make this train run again, and anyone, sharing same ideas, is welcome to jump on this train.

The road ahead is long and difficult, but with the help of those who share the same objectives, we can do it!
